SNW Gallery & Custom Frames has officially moved to a new location at 328 Poyntz Ave. SNW moved back to its roots, to the Eames building on Poyntz where the gallery was originally started in 1980.
The Gallery began as Strecker Gallery by Julie Strecker and was located on the second floor of the Eames building. It became Strecker-Nelson Gallery in 2000 with the change of ownership to Jay & Barbara Nelson. Then in April of 2017, Alyn Pennington West & her husband Kevin opened it as Strecker Nelson West Gallery. 3 years later, the West's renamed the gallery SNW Gallery & Custom Frames.
SNW is one of the longest-running galleries in Kansas. They feature over 100 artists and have 2,500 pieces of art in their inventory. They specialize in Flint Hills Landscapes but feature all media and genres. Some of their services include archival custom framing, complimentary gift wrapping, complimentary in-home art consultation and trial of artwork and professional delivery and hanging in the Manhattan area. On top of artwork, they also sell beautiful jewelry pieces, handmade artisan apparel, AlBo Glass and much more. All of their artwork and products can be found online. There are a few prominent things you'll notice when you arrive to this chic gallery in Manhattan. First, take in the gorgeous stained glass and ceiling that are from the original building. As you make your way through the gallery to the back you'll see their brand-new computerized mat cutter, a Valiani Nexus. This machine can cut any size mat to the perfect size and shape. Plus, you might even meet their official greeter and gallery dog, Mädi. They call Mädi their Mixed Media Kinetic Sculpture. She's a sweet rescue from Riley County Humane Society who loves making new friends.
