    One section of the Seaton Gallery will highlight the back-and-forth exchange of aesthetics and ideas between East and West through objects in the museum’s permanent collection, made by artists who traveled between the two regions. This project collaboration between curator Aileen June Wang and University of Kansas art history professors Sherry Fowler and Maki Kaneko.

    Apollo 11 mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969. Exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing by Americans and complements Manhattan Public Library’s summer reading theme, "A Universe of Stories."

  3. Jeremiah Ariaz: Louisiana Trail Riders

    2019 Friends of the Beach Museum of Art Gift Print Artist introduces Jeremiah Ariaz. Black Trail Riding Clubs have their roots in Creole culture formed in Southwest Louisiana in the eighteenth century. Trail rides are an opportunity for generations from rural parts of the state to gather and celebrate. These trail riders form a distinctive yet little known Louisiana subculture.

    Ariaz is a Great Bend product and associate professor of art at Louisiana State University who has captured these equestrian clubs in a series of photographs selected for this exhibition. One image chosen as 2019 Friends of Beach Museum of Art Gift Print.

  5. Three Native Portrait Artists

    A good portrait moves beyond depiction of a person's likeness to a commentary on humanity. Paintings and photographs in this exhibition are portraits of local individuals who portray features of our cultural environment and are part of the fabric of our community. Dick Beeman, Clive Fullagar and Luke Townsend are all local artists living in Manhattan. None of them have formal training in art.

    Annual invitational field includes Central Arkansas Bears who went 26-7 in 2018 and won 16 of 19 matches against Southland Conference opponents. More field participants include Clemson and Omaha. Wildcats went 15-12 during 2018 season and return nine letter winners including honorable mention All-Americas Sarah Dixon and Gloria Mutiri.

  2. Football: Bowling Green vs. K-State

    Only the second meeting between Wildcats and Bowling Green Falcons. K-State won the initial encounter 58-0 in 1997. Cats will not return home for the next month after road games (Sept. 14, Mississippi State; Sept. 28, Oklahoma State) and bye week (Sept. 21). On Oct. 5, K-State meets Baylor for the first home Big 12 game.

    Artist. Inventor. Scientist. Genius. Leonardo Da Vinci was a true Renassaince Man. One of the greatest painters yet he only completed a few works. Da Vinci was a dreamer and inventor, and his love for math, science and art are highlighted through this fascinating interactive exhibition. Catapults, parachutes and a hang glider are just some of the inventions Da Vinci incorporated to explore the art of science.

    In an accompanying exhibit in the Mezzanine Gallery, AIB Food First; learn how AIB helps companies bring safe, high-quality food to the world, and play baker for the day on the Discovery Center's second floor gallery.
