2019 Friends of the Beach Museum of Art Gift Print Artist introduces Jeremiah Ariaz. Black Trail Riding Clubs have their roots in Creole culture formed in Southwest Louisiana in the eighteenth century. Trail rides are an opportunity for generations from rural parts of the state to gather and celebrate. These trail riders form a distinctive yet little known Louisiana subculture.Ariaz is a Great Bend product and associate professor of art at Louisiana State University who has captured these equestrian clubs in a series of photographs selected for this exhibition. One image chosen as 2019 Friends of Beach Museum of Art Gift Print.

Paintings and photographs in this exhibition are portraits of local individuals who portray features of our cultural environment and are part of the fabric of our community. Dick Beeman, Clive Fullagar and Luke Townsend are all local artists living in Manhattan. None of them have formal training in art.

International performer and entrepreneur Mario DeCiutiis will visit the K-State Manhattan campus to present a clinic and lecture/performance. K-State students also will participate in recording sessions with DeCiutiis Sept. 13-14. The clinic is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in 135 McCain Auditorium and the lecture/performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in McCain's Kirmser Hall. Both of these events are free and open to the public.
DeCiutiis, an accomplished musician serves as principal percussionist of Radio City Music Hall in New York, may be more well known as the owner of Alternate Mode, a New England-based company that designs and produces Musical Instrument Digital Interface, known as MIDI, percussion controllers.
In his clinic, DeCiutiis will present many of the functions of the malletKAT, his MIDI controller for keyboard percussionists. His lecture/performance will include the malletKAT; jamKAT, a MIDI controller for hand percussionists; and some of his newest software.
