Apollo 11 mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969. Exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing by Americans and complements Manhattan Public Library’s summer reading theme, "A Universe of Stories."

Prairiewood Retreat & Preserve is a privately owned prairie preserve with almost 500 acres and several miles of walking trails. Bring family or friends and head out on the first Sunday of each month for free access to their trails and a visit to the Blue Sage Gallery! Visitors should check in at the Blue Sage Gallery at 1484 Wildcat Creek Rd. for hiker log, trail maps and other info. Join them around the Blue Sage Barn fire pit for a bonfire at 7pm! Prairiewood Retreat & Preserve loves pets, but unfortunately cannot allow them on Prairiewood trails.

Prairiewood is pleased to offer this free program with two expert speakers and a hands-on learning activity that's great for kids and adults! Join at 5pm in the Blue Sage Barn to hear from Kansas State University Landscape Architecture Professor Tim Keane, followed by Denise Kidder of the Friends of the Kaw - Kansas Riverkeeper. Denise will introduce some basics of water quality testing using macroinvertebrates (aka water bugs!), then lead everyone to the stream to catch some critters! Closed-toed water shoes are strongly encouraged for the stream testing activity!
