  2. Voices: Art Linking Asia and the West

    One section of the Seaton Gallery will highlight the back-and-forth exchange of aesthetics and ideas between East and West through objects in the museum’s permanent collection, made by artists who traveled between the two regions. This project collaboration between curator Aileen June Wang and University of Kansas art history professors Sherry Fowler and Maki Kaneko.

  3. Celebrating Heroes: American Mural Studies of 1930s & 1940s (Hirsch Collection)

    The '30s and '40s were a golden age for murals in America when the everyday worker rose to the status of hero. Murals celebrate the work of miners, farmers and other laborers and cover walls in public buildings across the country. Preliminary ideas played out in sketches and nearly 50of these are displayed in this exhibition. On loan from Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Vassar College.

    Apollo 11 mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969. Exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing by Americans and complements Manhattan Public Library’s summer reading theme, "A Universe of Stories."

  1. Manhattan Experimental Theater Workshop

    Eligibility requirement restricts attendees to 9-12 grades. Workshop designed for students interested in art, writing or performance to include music, dance, theater, forensics. No pre-workshop theater experience necessary. Skills used not usually found in mainstream theater: Gymnastics, choral singing, dance, martial arts, musical performance, public speaking, juggling; any public performance may be helpful toward experimental theatrical explorations.

    Year 5 for Bill Snyder Highway half-marathon presents exciting finish all runners have highly anticipated: into the stadium and onto the field! Race begins on Bill Snyder Highway and ends at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, in the stadium. What could be more appropriate than a sprint onto the turf to finish 13.2 miles begun near Interstate 70? Fifth annual includes usual 5-kilometer race on campus in blocks around the stadium. Be part of this year's highly anticipated race! Sponsored by Manhattan Running Company.

    Charitable causes include K-State’s Johnson Cancer Research Center, Shepherd’s Crossing, Snyder Leadership Legacy Fellows and Matt Snyder Foundation for Troubled Youth.

Da Vinci was a dreamer and inventor, and his love for math, science and art are highlighted through this fascinating interactive exhibition. Catapults, parachutes and a hang glider are just some of the inventions Da Vinci incorporated to explore the art of science.

    In an accompanying exhibit in the Mezzanine Gallery, AIB Food First; learn how AIB helps companies bring safe, high-quality food to the world, and play baker for the day on the Discovery Center's second floor gallery.
