The '30s and '40s were a golden age for murals in America when the everyday worker rose to the status of hero. Murals celebrate the work of miners, farmers and other laborers and cover walls in public buildings across the country. Preliminary ideas played out in sketches and nearly 50of these are displayed in this exhibition. On loan from Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Vassar College.

Apollo 11 mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969. Exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing by Americans and complements Manhattan Public Library’s summer reading theme, "A Universe of Stories."

Participatory theater experience re-creates some of the conditions, struggles and dangers that fugitive slaves experienced as they navigated Kansas terrain and sought northern freedom. This experience places you in the footsteps of slaves desperate for freedom, allows you to meet anti- and pro-slavery characters and reflect on present impacts. Simple meal provided.
