  2. Voices: Art Linking Asia and the West

    One section of the Seaton Gallery will highlight the back-and-forth exchange of aesthetics and ideas between East and West through objects in the museum’s permanent collection, made by artists who traveled between the two regions.   5. Celebrating Heroes: American Mural Studies of 1930s & 1940s (Hirsch Collection)

    The '30s and '40s were a golden age for murals in America when the everyday worker rose to the status of hero. Murals celebrate the work of miners, farmers and other laborers and cover walls in public buildings across the country. Preliminary ideas played out in sketches and nearly 50of these are displayed in this exhibition. On loan from Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Vassar College.

  2. Empty Bowls 2019: Soup Luncheon

    Empty Bowls is a fundraiser to fight hunger in MHK. All proceeds from the event will be donated locally to Common Table and Cats Cupboard. Bring your coupon from a bowl make day or make a donation at the door. Local restaurants donate soup and bread. Community members buy the bowls and enjoy soup.

  1. Pete Souza: Two Presidents, One Photographer

    Home Big 12-opening series for BatCats. Red Raiders finished two games out of first in conference standings and won 45 games last year. Tech won the Lubbock super regional and advanced to College World Series, where it was ousted by Florida. Texas Tech has advanced to Omaha in three of the last five seasons with Big 12 titles in 2016-17. More 2019 conference series opponents at Tointon include TCU, Oklahoma and West Virginia.

  1. K-State Recorder Workshop

    March 30, 2019, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ McCain Auditorium Room 105

    School of Music, Theatre and Dance at Kansas State University hosts second annual K-State Recorder Workshop for student and professional music educators, recorder players and enthusiasts, early music fans and more. Workshop open to those 13 years/older. Previous recorder experience beneficial, not required. Participants must provide their own instrument.

    About 2019 Workshop: Based upon feedback from 2018, separate technique tracks offered during morning session; one for beginner to advanced beginner players and second track for intermediate to advanced players. Afternoon session focused on large-group playing for all workshop participants. Reference Berlin/Blaker self-rating chart ( for playing ability level.

  1. 6th Annual Wicked Marathon & Half Marathon

    Wicked Marathon tours Wamego and historic Military Trail Road. Start-finish in front of famed Oz Museum where runners are greeted by Wizard of Oz characters. In its inaugural year, seven runners posted Boston Marathon qualifying times on mostly flat, USATF certified course.
