Current K-State ceramics area artist in residence Flor Widmar was California born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico; she earned an MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art and BFA from Sierra Nevada College. Widmar has exhibited in Denmark, Japan and numerous venues across North America. "In Passing" stems from the elaborate memorials made to honor and mourn those lost; beautiful-yet-tragic structures built on highways and country roads in U.S. and many other nations. The future of these roadside remembrances is uncertain.
