2019 Friends of the Beach Museum of Art Gift Print Artist introduces Jeremiah Ariaz. Black Trail Riding Clubs have their roots in Creole culture formed in Southwest Louisiana in the eighteenth century. Trail rides are an opportunity for generations from rural parts of the state to gather and celebrate. These trail riders form a distinctive yet little known Louisiana subculture.Ariaz is a Great Bend product and associate professor of art at Louisiana State University who has captured these equestrian clubs in a series of photographs selected for this exhibition. The Charles de Gaulle Foundation and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum, in partnership with the Eisenhower Foundation, strive to promote and honor the legacies of the great leaders. Together these institutions collaborated with the Musée de l’Armée (French Army Museum) to present this exhibition. With the generous support of The First Alliance Foundation, the exhibition will contribute to strengthen the bonds between France and the United States.

Best known for his depictions of Kansas, the American West also reveals itself as a significant subject in John Steuart Curry's work. Curry's earliest drawings reveal a boy under the spell of Western artists, e.g., Frederic Remington. Through 38 works, to include paintings and magazine illustrations, this exhibition explores Curry’s depictions of the West as a romantic and real environment.

An installation by expedition geologist and artist Charles Lindsay, who directs the artist-in-residence program for SETI (Search For Extra Terrestrial Intelligence). The installation will delve into earth's geological and cultural pasts, using scientific equipment salvaged from space exploration archaeology. Specimens and artifacts in Field Station 4 provoke musings on human perceptions of time and space.

On Dec. 4, the Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble will perform. They will begin the concert with works by Mackey, Colgrass, Grainger & Shapiro. They will conclude with works by Yeo, Harris, Perrine and Press. The Wind Symphony is under the direction of Alex Wimmer, assistant director of bands and the Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands.
On Thursday, Dec. 5, the Brass Ensemble, Woodwind Ensemble, and Mixed Chamber Ensembles will begin Thursday's concert. Composers of these works include Denham, Bach, Hanson, Persichetti, Jacob, and Perrine. These ensembles will be conducted by graduate students Allegra Fisher, Evan Ricker, and Eric Thompson as well as Alex Wimmer.
The Concert Band will conclude by performing works by Curnow, Van der Roost, Ticheli and King. Graduate students Grace Baugher, Allegra Fisher, Evan Ricker and Eric Thompson will conduct the Concert Band.

We'll accept any form of writing or art, including things like: poems, essays, comics, photography, scans of 2-d art, or photos of 30D art, or anything outside the box that you can create.
