Teens 7th-12th Grade: Do you want to have your writing or artwork published in a short zine? We're starting a literary art zine! For our first year, each issue will have a seasonal theme. We'll accept any form of writing or art, including things like: poems, essays, comics, photography, scans of 2-d art, or photos of 30D art, or anything outside the box that you can create. The deadline to submit work for the spring issue is January 10, 2020. Submit digital files by emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Bring your entire family to the Flint Hills Discovery Center for the annual Breakfast with Santa! There will be food, fun, and a chance to have your picture taken with Santa!

Each canvas will have the image predrawn in pencil on an 11" x 14" canvas. The instructor will start the children out with basic techniques then walk around and help the children individually while incorporating bits of art history/appreciation. The class will be taught by a K-State graduate with degrees in the visual arts who advocates for art education.
We'll provide a light snack for the children while they are listening to the story. Parents are welcome to stay or drop their child off.
Ages 6 - 12. Younger children are welcome, but we prefer an adult stay to assist the child.

Children are encouraged to wear PJs! They may also bring a blanket to lay on the floor and watch the movie. Visitors will be greeted at the door by the train conductor who will hand them their golded ticket!
After the movie a special guest will arrive to see the children and give them their silver bell.

Preschool-age children (ages 3-5) begin discovering the wonder of the Flint Hills where they live, but look beyond the city limits in their exploration. Every session includes a story time, snack and themed craft or activity! Over 100 years ago, Kansas started to fill up with covered wagons and travelers from far away. If you moved to a new place, what would you bring with you? Let's pack the wagon and go on an adventure! Pre-registration is required. Calling all mad scientists! It's the annual family-friendly celebration to ring in the New Year. They've got games, science experiments, music, food and dancing. Kids can play scientist, see live animals and launch rockets! The evening ends with their iconic balloon drop at "kids midnight" (8:30 PM). All children must be accompanied by an adult.
