  2. Empty Bowls 2019: Soup Luncheon

    Empty Bowls is a fundraiser to fight hunger in MHK. All proceeds from the event will be donated locally to Common Table and Cats Cupboard. Bring your coupon from a bowl make day or make a donation at the door. Local restaurants donate soup and bread. Community members buy the bowls and enjoy soup.

Not well documented in American history, over 100,000 pregnant, unwed young women traveled mostly by train to Kansas City in the early to mid-1900s. Author, KelLee Parr, will talk about how he got started searching for his biological grandmother's information at the Kansas State Historical Society, a little about the search and reunion with his grandmother, and how he came to write his first book.
