What to do in a weekend in Manhattan? What not to do is the better question as there is no way you can pack all this fun into one weekend. I guess, we'll see you back next weekend?

1. Flint Hills Discovery Center

The Flint Hills Discovery Center is where history and science collide. The main floor has everything you would ever need to know about the 10,000 square miles of tallgrass prairie of the geologic Flint Hills that surrounds Manhattan. On the second floor explore their rotating exhibit space, temporary exhibits include Animationland; Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action; and Hands on Harley Davidson. The Flint Hills Discovery Center is tons of fun for all ages and truly brings learning to life.


2. Konza Prairie

Tie those shoe laces up, it's time to hike the Konza Prairie. Tackle one of the three trails ranging in length from 2.6 to 6.2 miles long. The views atop of the Konza Prairie looking out onto the Flint Hills is extraordinary. Apply some of the knowledge you learned at the Flint Hills Discovery Center and identify parts of the prairie ecosystem on your hike or just catch your breath, the Flint Hills can be steep!
 

3. Sunset Zoo

The Sunset Zoo is the place to spend an afternoon outside in Manhattan. The zoo is home to more than 200 animals from flamingos to leopards to an ornate box turtle. The Sunset Zoo holds their accreditation by the Association of Zoo's & Aquariums and is committed to the highest level of animal care and guest experience. The zoo is a walkable park that makes for a fun afternoon excursion.

 

4. Liquid Art Winery & Estate

You will feel like you have been transplanted once you view the vineyard at Liquid Art Winery & Estate. Those hills, all of those vines, they are all Kansas! Sit out on their patio and sip on a flight of four locally made wines or ciders and enjoy a beautiful Manhattan sunset.

 

5. Midwest Dream Car Collection

Midwest Dream Car Collection is the place for a fun afternoon. Their inside automotive collection is the perfect activity for any day of the year. More than 65 cars are on site for you to view ranging from 1907 Ford Model-R to a wine cork covered 1958 BMW. Don't miss some of their monthly events like Open Hood Sunday, Featured Car Talk and Cars and Coffee.

 

6. Wildwood Adventure Park

Now is the time to zip over to Wildwood Adventure Park! Find seven breath taking zips that go as long as a quarter of a mile over the tree tops of the scenic Flint Hills. Don't forget about the 40-foot free fall to finish - that is sure to wake you up! Be sure to check out their unique 2 mile trail run that features many obstacles.

 

7. Tuttle Creek Lake

12,000 acres of water! That's how big the Tuttle Creek Lake State Park is, imagine all the lake activities you can do! Lake goers enjoy paddling, fishing, boating and even hiking the trails surrounding the lake! The lake is located less than 20 minutes from downtown Manhattan! 

 

8. Golf at Colbert Hills

Take in the Flint Hills landscape through an afternoon out on the green at Colbert Hills. The 18 hole course features native Kansas limestone and vistas up to 12 miles. The course presents wide-open fairways with wispy rough that enters into play just a few steps off the fairways. Don't forget to grab a bite to eat at the Colbert Hills Bar & Grill.

 

9. K-State Gardens and Insect Zoo

Find nearly 20 acres of different plant species throughout the Gardens at Kansas State University. The garden serves as a beautiful educational resource where the public and students can view a wide variety of plant life. This place is beautiful and serves as a great spot for a photo op! The Insect Zoo features many exhibits of creepy crawlies also known as insects and their arthropod relatives. Many children's activities are features throughout the zoo.

 

10. SNW Gallery & Custom Frames
