Automated Vehicles in Smart Cities: Stanley Young

Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Stanley Young, an advanced transportation and urban scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden, Colorado, will speak about automated and connected vehicle technologies in the context of smart cities, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in 1066 Durland Hall.
Young manages the laboratory's research efforts on the impact of new mobility systems, particularly in urban areas. He also serves as the U.S. Department of Energy technologist-in-city for the Columbus Smart City program. From 2006 to 2015, while on staff at the University of Maryland's Center for Advanced Transportation Technology, he developed a multistate traffic-monitoring system based on vehicles self-reporting their position and speed.
Young holds both master's and doctoral degrees from K-State and a bachelor's degree from LeTourneau University.
