Jeremiah Ariaz: Louisiana Trail Riders
Tuesday, August 6, 2019
2019 Friends of the Beach Museum of Art Gift Print Artist introduces Jeremiah Ariaz. Black Trail Riding Clubs have their roots in Creole culture formed in Southwest Louisiana in the eighteenth century. Trail rides are an opportunity for generations from rural parts of the state to gather and celebrate. These trail riders form a distinctive yet little known Louisiana subculture.
Ariaz is a Great Bend product and associate professor of art at Louisiana State University who has captured these equestrian clubs in a series of photographs selected for this exhibition. One image chosen as 2019 Friends of Beach Museum of Art Gift Print.
