Humanities Kansas Book Talk: Their Eyes Were Watching God

Thursday, March 28, 2019

Theme for Humanities Kansas book talk discussion series, "A Woman's Place." What's a woman's place? Who decides? We have been talking about women's roles in our society for 200 hundred years, and books in this series reflect the state of dialogue in the 20th century. Each author looks at the way women develop personal strength of character and deal with society's or loved ones' perceptions of what they should be.

Tensions between mothers and daughters, wives and husbands, career and family, are explored in these stories of women seeking to define themselves and their relationships. Book One, Their Eyes Were Watching God; Book Two: The Joy Luck Club, April 25; Book Three: A Lost Lady, May 23.
