Odyssey begins at Stampede ... but why stop there?

Posted on June 22, 2017 at 12:22 PM by Michael Goens

Kicker Country Stampede is a full-blown, entertainment masterpiece of epic proportions. And with remarkable music acts set for 2017 Stampede – Alan Jackson, Chris Stapleton, Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion, Brothers Osborne, Maddie & Tae, Big and Rich and more! – music lovers and festival revelers may have a hard time wrapping their minds around anything other than 24/7 Stampede … I know, right?

But options exist! And they are many! Music mixed with dancing and just the right level of booze (moderation, folks!) can be blended with interludes of semi-spontaneous fun. Man, does Manhattan have serious attractions for crazy levels of fun around The Little Apple®! How to spend your time when not drinking, dancing and managing to exist on as little sleep as possible? Oh, we’ve got some ideas. How much you still crave the outdoors? Ya good to go?

So are we, with Manhattan’s Magnificent Seven during Stampede Week!

Liquid Art Winery has already become a fantastic weekend getaway, minutes west of Manhattan.

Tuttle Creek State Park

You don’t have to go far for random activities within the park, which include archery, boating, disc golf, fishing, kayaking and skiing. Tuttle Creek State Park

Feed the wild beast inside
Stampede has some incredible food far above “fair fare” … though if you feel you’ve ventured one corn dog over your limit, amble north about five miles for The Little Apple® dining delights! Oh, we’ve got it going on, folks! Little Apple delightful dining

Hike the Konza Prairie
Get a little “away” time and strike out into nature. You’re not that far from a fair amount of solitude in comparison to the crush of humanity – and we love every bit of it! – at Stampede. Konza Prairie

Liquid Art Winery and Estate
If you just manage to hit the park on the first day of the festival, you may be a little behind early arrivals (Tuesday) but the party has still just begun! Besides, Liquid Art’s Tasting Room is open Thursday-through-Sunday, and this is a can’t-miss spot for Manhattan visitors. Tucked in the Flint Hills with an amazing vineyard and equally-amazing Flint Hills sights! Liquid Art Winery

Locked Manhattan
OK, so there’s some levels of craziness at Stampede that are better suited for some than others. Mind-challenging puzzles may not fit the equation, but may make great diversionary excursion. Solve the puzzle before a 1-hour timeframe and realize the key to freedom! Locked Manhattan

Wildwood ziplining
Seven amazing zip line runs … and what a sight to behold! Dizzying runs among wooded regions of the Flint Hills. If zipping among the tree tops is your notion of a thrill ride, then Wildwood Outdoor Adventure Park is where you’re meant to be. Thursday-through-Sunday, or book in advance. Plus, Sunset Zoo, Colbert Hills, Fort Riley, Junction City Brigade baseball and more MHK music venues like Arts in the Park and Mid by Midwest Fest. Better start to plan that return trip! See ya soon!
