Valentine's Week

Posted on February 13, 2013 at 4:34 PM by Autumn Shoemaker

Well it's Valentine's week, and love it or hate it, it's going to be splashed all over all week. So grab your honey, or your friend, or your kiddos or chill out by yourself- we have some great ideas listed below.

Try a new restaurant! There are many that take reservations for VDay, (many are full) but many also accept walk-ins. Been waiting to try a new seafood place? Or tex mex? Make this the week! Treat yourself to some dessert ;)

DSC01880.JPGCatch a show! There are quite a few to choose from this week. Need a laugh? Head to the Columbian Theatre in Wamego. "Barefoot in the Park" by Neil Simon is a treat- (I'll vouch for it, they treated me to a dress rehersal.)

McCain has a show on Sunday- "Laughter and Reflection with Carol Burnett" shows at 3:00 in the afternoon.

"Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo" will show in Nichols Theatre February 14-16 at 7:30 and the 17th at 2:30 pm. This is a great (and affordable!) date night!

You could always kick off K-State's 150th celebration as well! It starts on Thursday, the 14th. The festivities run from 1-7:00 pm and include music and displays, birthday ice cream, an opening reception at the Marianna-Kistler Beach Museum of Art and more!

Don't forget all the great movies that always come out this month, tempting us to the theaters for a good laugh or cry or scare. I've been on a movie kick lately- and have to say that I'm no critic, but I've enjoyed Django Unchained (a true Tarantino, so beware), Hansel &Gretel (also not great for kiddos), Les Miserables, and Silver Linings Playbook. This is a great way to spend a cozy evening!

Have other recommendations from around town? Leave them below!

Congratulations to our McCain ticket winners this week ;)

This sounds so fun! I definitely recommend grabbing the girls and heading to dellaVoce for a martini, and Harry's for bruschetta! Can't lose with this option!
