April 13 and 14

Posted on April 12, 2013 at 10:40 AM by Autumn Shoemaker

Saturday: 10-4 The Flint Hills Discovery Center celebrates one year of being open! They have activities planned all day- free admission, a new temporary exhibit and complimentary snacks!

Catch a movie at the Seth Child's Cinema, or the Student Union!  This weekend at the Union is Die Hard, and there are a whole bunch of movies playing at Seth Child's! (We can't wait to see The Croods 3D, personally)

Jaunt over to nearby Wamego for their annual tulip festival! There are more than 150 craft vendors. Also in Wamego is the Columbian Theatre! This weekend's performance is "The Sound of Music!"

Take the kids to the Manhattan Public Library on Saturday from 2-3:00 pm for a book signing with children's author, Brad Sneed. This award-winning illustrator will give a talk about his artistic process and his new book, Johnny Kaw: A Tall Tale. Co-sponsored by Claflin Books & Copies and K-State Dept. of English. Book signing following the program. Sneed's books will be available for purchase at the event. (Johnny Kaw is the large statue in City Park! Go learn about the legend!)

The rescheduled Easter Egg Hunt with the T. Russel Reitz animal shelter will be this Saturday. Gates open at 9:30 and the hunt begins at 10. Photos with the Easter Bunny will be available, with proceeds benefiting the shelter.

These are just a sampling. Browse our calendar of events for many more activities! Happy weekend!
