Rhythm & Brews Festival
City Park activities, Aug. 6
Microbrewery sampling

Bands and brews at RBMHK Bash

On August 6, Manhattan becomes the land of hops with Rhythm & Brews Manhattan, as this daylong festival turns City Park into a family fun zone for afternoon and evening.

Hail the Ale/Sip of Kansas sampling
Send up a toast, as the afternoon Sip of Kansas sampling event couples to toast Hail the Ale homebrew winners. Have a taste of Midwest microbrewery/winery samples from around the region ($25 entry). This event tasting takes place in GTM Wefald Pavilion in City Park. Purchase tickets at Rhythm & Brews sampling.

Evening music: Grizfolk/SHEL
Rhythm & Brews gets polished up in stellar fashion Saturday night, with a trio of musical acts on the Larry Norvell Band Shell stage in City Park. The 2016 schedule includes SHEL, a four-sister act from Fort Collins, Colo., and LA-based Grizfolk, whose hits include the Struggle, Troublemaker and Bob Marley, and 2016 performances include SXSW and Boulevardia. The Baker Trio gets the show under way at 7 p.m.

Brew2Shoe races
10K and 5K runs sponsored by Manhattan Running Company and Tallgrass Brewery get the show started early on Saturday, with a mega-celebration for runners and supporters after crossing the finish line on Poyntz Avenue near AJ's Pizzeria, with a cool-down over refreshments at Tallgrass Taphouse.

This triple-rich festival begins to wind down the last summer month before school starts. City Park is the host venue to the concerts and Sip of Kansas sampling. Make plans now to join us Aug. 6 in Manhattan.
