"Waterplaces" is a suite of 101 drawings on vellum paper. The exhibition will also present the artist’s 2018 Friends of the Beach Museum of Art Gift Print, "Dancing on the Table." This work reflects Benson's interest in water sources that flow under ground such as the Ogallala Aquifer in parts of Western Kansas and surrounding states. Benson brings attention to this hidden natural treasure in a chine colle´ lithograph with gold leaf and coloring applied by hand.

Exhibition represents studio practices by 15 members of the K-State studio art faculty. These works have been made within the last two years and vary in concept and construction. The artwork features the disciplines of ceramics, drawing, fibers, graphic design, painting, photography, sculpture, and new media. Chad Alligood, chief curator of American art at Huntington Library (San Marino, Calif.), will serve as juror and announce award winners at the exhibition opening.

Mayer gifted her creations to K-State along with many others that have been showcased in Justin Hall and campus galleries. Mayer creates garments by incorporating an incredible range of hand dyeing and embellishing techniques.

Junior English students in Morgan Jobe’s classes have been working with community participants such as Beach Museum of Art and The Fellow to learn about visual literacy and communication, particularly how to use the arts to convey complex ideas. Students use inquiry and design thinking to tell stories from their community that matter to them. This issue-centered project seeks to answer the question: Why do stories matter?
