"Waterplaces" is a suite of 101 drawings on vellum paper. The exhibition will also present the artist’s 2018 Friends of the Beach Museum of Art Gift Print, "Dancing on the Table." This work reflects Benson's interest in water sources that flow under ground such as the Ogallala Aquifer in parts of Western Kansas and surrounding states. Benson brings attention to this hidden natural treasure in a chine colle´ lithograph with gold leaf and coloring applied by hand.

Exhibition represents studio practices by 15 members of the K-State studio art faculty. These works have been made within the last two years and vary in concept and construction. The artwork features the disciplines of ceramics, drawing, fibers, graphic design, painting, photography, sculpture, and new media. Chad Alligood, chief curator of American art at Huntington Library (San Marino, Calif.), will serve as juror and announce award winners at the exhibition opening.

From campus visits by Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy to the mysterious fire that destroyed Nichols Gym, the exhibit explores how national issues played out in Manhattan, alongside traditional university activities.
