SPOOKtacular sets bar high for MHK Halloween treats

Posted on October 18, 2018 at 12:30 PM by Michael Goens

Trick or treating for Manhattan children began last week during homecoming weekend in mid-October ... pays real dividends bein’ a kid these days, huh? And they’ll literally get candy thrown right to them – every other parade (homecoming) aside -- during the November Veterans Day parade along Poyntz. How’s that for convenient?

Videogame graphics that rock your world and candy thrown in your lap! If that doesn’t invigorate your kids, how about a day at Sunset Zoo and free parents’ admission with each paid child ($5)? C’mon, this is outrageously good!

Next week, it’ll be time again for SPOOKtacular, Oct. 27-28 at Sunset Zoo in Manhattan. Break out your kids’ Incredibles 2 or Black Panther costumes for a day to frolic on the zoo’s paths and collect goodies along five business-sponsored candy trails. Maybe go throwback style on the costume front to Hermione, Zoey Stevens or even Ghostbusters.

“Come out, come out, wherever you are” for family-friendly activities, costume contest and spooky forest inside Nature Exploration Center near the zoo’s entrance. Be sure to bring candy bags and send out the call: Trick or Treat!

Knosh-worthy items on sale at the Expedition Café (noon to 4:30) and from Los Toritos. Get the jump on tickets online and knock this SPOOKtacular outta the yard! At your favorite zoo in the world: Sunset, baby!

  • Fall-winter zoo hours begin in two weeks, Nov. 1, with noon to 5 p.m. hours of operation. Until the end of 2018, take $1 off zoo admission when you bring a non-perishable food item for Flint Hills Breadbasket.
